Neil Wickenden is an experienced and qualified taxation professional, having been admitted to the HLB Mann Judd partnership in 1982.
Neil has over many years established a positive reputation with clients and peers for his work in a number of areas, including:

business and investment structures and restructuring for both publicly listed and privately owned organisations and, in particular, working closely within groups to design and implement structures that optimise commercial and taxation outcomes

business and investment transactions and agreements, such as mergers, acquisitions and divestments, in which he has assisted purchasers and vendors in reaching terms that meet each party’s commercial and taxation objectives

advising on and managing transitional arrangements for corporations entering into and exiting from tax consolidation

assisting corporate groups and individuals with international tax compliance matters such as tax treaty interpretation, tax residency status, transfer pricing, thin capitalisation, expatriate tax compliance and other cross border taxation issues

advising high net worth individuals and family groups on the establishment and management of trusts as a tax effective means of asset protection and estate planning

authoring tax expert’s reports for prospectuses and other documents typically issued under the fundraising provisions of the Corporations Act (Commonwealth of Australia).
Neil has acted for clients in numerous revenue authority tax reviews and audits, and has prepared successful tax objections and applications for Taxation Office private rulings. He has represented clients on revenue matters before the (federal) Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal. He has also prepared tax expert’s reports for prospectuses, acted as an expert witness on taxation issues for litigation purposes, acted as an executor to deceased estates, and has been appointed as a financial manager by the Office of the Protective Commissioner in New South Wales.
Neil’s views are widely sought by industry. He is a former NSW State Chairman of The Taxation Institute (Australia) and is currently vice chairman of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ NSW branch committee. He has also represented The Taxation Institute in discussions with The Treasury (Australia) to formulate Australian income tax laws.
