Community Involvement

At HLB Mann Judd, we believe we have a responsibility to contribute to and support the community.

We support a number or organisations throughout Australia via internal fundraisers and participation in charitable events such as Jeans for Genes day, Movember and The Biggest Aussie Pie night. These organisations include:

  • AMAQ Foundation
  • beyondblue
  • Challenge
  • Children's Medical Research Institute
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Mater Foundation
  • Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
  • Uniting Care
  • Young Care.

We also provide services to a number of entities on a pro-bono or concessional fee basis and partners of member firms are presidents, governors, representatives or consultants on various boards and community associations including:

  • Ardoch Youth Foundation
  • Cabrini Institute
  • International Social Service
  • Jirrawun Arts
  • Noahs Ark Family Resource and Toy Library
  • Red Cross Committee International
  • The Mirabel Foundation INC
  • Travellers Aid Society of Victoria
  • YALP.

Our member firms are also working towards reducing their impact on the environment and climate change. Our Melbourne firm has established an Environmental and Sustainability Committee to implement an environmentally-responsible policy in its firm. This involves looking at its processes, practices and infrastructure and will lead to a range of carbon reduction and offset measures. Since the committee was formed in December 2007, the Melbourne firm has implemented the following initiatives:

  • Made duplex printing the default option. Together with other measures, the firm reduced its paper consumption by approximately 132,000 sheets or 266 reams, in the first six months
  • Switched to 100% green power, reducing the firm’s carbon emission from electricity consumption to zero effective July 2008
  • Started a review of its suppliers to identify ‘green’ options
  • Removed individual rubbish bins and created a central bin location, encouraging more environmentally-aware practices
  • Replaced some of the firm’s older photocopiers with more environmentally friendly models.
The firm has also become a network member of Sustainability Victoria’s Waste-Wise program. The next step is to perform a waste audit, which will form the basis of the firm’s waste minimisation plan for submission to Sustainability Victoria to become a “Waste-wise” accredited work place.
