Applications for Queensland’s 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grant opened on 16 August 2021. Funding will be granted to all eligible businesses that apply for the grant before 16 November 2021.

The Queensland and Federal Treasurers have jointly announced additional support, in addition to the original $5,000 Grant support, for businesses with a decline in turnover of more than 30% caused by the recent lockdowns.

The additional payroll-based support will include:

  • $5,000 for small businesses with annual Queensland payroll less than $1.3m.
  • $10,000 for medium businesses with annual Queensland payroll between $1.3m and $10m.
  • $25,000 for large tourism and hospitality focused businesses with annual Queensland payroll greater than $10m.

As such, businesses will be able to receive a total value of $10,000 to $30,000 in Grants from the QLD Government.

A one-off grant for non-employing sole traders has been announced. Eligible non-employing sole traders, with a decline in turnover of more than 30%, can receive $1,000. The eligibility criteria for this grant are expected to be released shortly. Currently, the Queensland Government is accepting expressions of interest for this grant.
