Neil Wickenden was admitted to the HLB Mann Judd partnership in 1982. He practices in tax compliance and advice. His areas of tax expertise include:

  • business and investment structures and restructuring
  • business and investment transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions and divestments
  • advising on and assisting corporations entering into and exiting from tax consolidation
  • assisting with international tax compliance, such as tax treaty interpretation, tax residency status, transfer pricing, thin capitalisation and expatriate tax
  • advising high net worth individuals and family groups on the establishment and management of tax effective structures for asset protection and estate planning
  • authoring tax expert reports for prospectuses and other documents typically issued under the fundraising provisions of the Corporations Act (Commonwealth of Australia)

Neil has acted for clients:

  • in revenue authority tax reviews, audits and settlements
  • in the preparation of successful tax objections and applications for Taxation Office private rulings and class rulings
  • on revenue matters before the (federal) Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
  • in the preparation of tax expert reports for prospectuses
  • as an expert witness on taxation issues for litigation purposes.

Neil is a former NSW State Chairman of The Tax Institute (Australia). He is a former Chairman of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Australia Ltd. He has also represented The Tax Institute in discussions with The Treasury (Australia) to formulate Australian income tax laws.
