HLB Mann Judd is calling on the Western Australian business community to shed blood (their own) and save lives.
The accounting and financial services firm is participating in the Australia Red Cross Red25 blood donation drive in response to the need for more donors across the country, particularly in Western Australia.
HLB Mann Judd Business Advisory Services Partner, Colin Emmott says so far this year, 15 staff in the WA office have helped save 45 people’s lives by donating blood and he is encouraging more people in the corporate sector to follow suit.
“As accountants we are always looking for cost-effective ways of doing things and when you think about it, donating blood only costs you an hour of your time and a few hundred millilitres of a precious resource which can save multiple lives,” he said.
“The Red25 initiative is not only encouraging us to help people in our community, we are participating is a positive team building exercise.”
HLB Mann Judd’s involvement in the Australian Red Cross Red25 blood donation campaign has been driven by Anna Cole who is an Assistant within the firm’s Corporate and Audit Services Division.
“Anna recognised an opportunity to motivate our team to regularly make lifesaving contributions by establishing a friendly competition between the HLB Mann Judd offices across Australia and WA is currently the frontrunner,” Mr Emmott said.
“We are hoping to extend that friendly rivalry across the WA business community to assist the Australian Red Cross to collect blood which can be used during medical procedures and treatments including cancer treatment.
“People who work in an office environment, particularly in the CBD are well-placed to be blood donors simply because they can pop out to donate blood and be back sitting at their desk a short time later wearing the ‘sticky plaster of honour’ on their arm,” he said.
HLB Mann Judd plans to run the Red25 donation drive across the firm for the remainder of the year.
“Our call to action for the WA business community is simple – join us in the need to bleed,” he said.
