In a continued push by the Australian Government to provide better interaction with online services, myGovID will replace AUSkey at the end of March 2020.
What is myGovID?
Separate from your myGov account, it is a digital identity provider accessed via an app on Apple and Android devices. The myGovID is unique to you and used for both personal and business matters. After March 2020, some services will only be accessible with myGovID, including the Australian Taxation Office business portal, Access Manager and various state based revenue offices.
How to set up your myGovID
- Download the free myGovID app from the app store
- Enter your personal details and email address
- Prove your identity with two of;
• Driver’s License;
• Birth Certificate; or
• Medicare Card
Link your business using Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)
The principal authority of the business will need to set up their myGovID and link the business in RAM, by simply inputting the ABN, with the individual details checked against existing records on the Australian Business Register.
Authorising Employees in RAM
If you have employees currently accessing the Business Portal on behalf of the business, the principal authority can then set up authorisations for others, who have their myGovID, in RAM to work on behalf of the business.
